Because sometimes when you're up, you fall down.

This morning I had to make a hard decision... To race or not to race in my first triathlon of the season??? It was not even a week ago an incident with a car caused me to fall off my bike and meet the pavement... My bike was ok for the most part, and other than some bumps and scraps. I was in one piece. I was pretty sore on my right side all week and could not put my right arm into my Tri bars on my bike, but I just kept telling myself by the weekend i'd be fine.

I had gone for One 6km run and One 40km bike ride on my road bike between the accident and the race. And both hurt. But I don't like to show people when i'm in pain. It also helps trick myself in believing i'm ok... So come Friday I knew something still was not right. But all day I just tried to forget about it. I think even then I knew I should not race. But I kept positive about it hoping for the best.

I awoke this morning and started to get ready for my race. I took my tri bike out on the road at 6am and went up and down the street. Right side still sore. Right arm still hurts to rest on the tri bars. Decision: Don't race :-( As much as i'm down at the fact I could not go and do what I love. I know there are bigger things/races coming my way in the future. Sometimes when your up, you fall down. But you always have to get back up, dust yourself off and keep climbing back to the top... You can't enjoy the Mountains without the Valleys :-)

I'm looking forward to the Wellend Half-Ironman in 2 weeks :-)
